On Friday, Nike announced a $1.5 million donation to the University of Oregon Foundation which will be used to build a state-of-the-art scoreboard and sound system at Hayward Field. The structure will be 50 feet tall, and will have a screen measuring 30 feet long by 17 feet high which will be capable not only of displaying event results and lane assignments, but will show video clips and replays of live action on the track. It will be located on the far south end of Hayward Field. The new sound system will be a great improvement and will allow fans all over the stadium to hear meet announcements.
